This summer, be part of something extraordinary. Matthew, Super 8's founder is the king of firsts. First to create an 8 step acting method, specifically designed for young actors and since 2023, the first to offer genuine IMDb credited workshops.
Over four immersive days, young creatives ages 12–18 (a workshop for 10-12 yrs is in the planning stage) will come together to make a powerful, professional short film — from script to screen.
Led by industry professionals and filmed on location, this is more than just a workshop — it's a real film shoot, built around your ideas, your talent, and your teamwork. The final film will be professionally edited and submitted to festivals, with all participants credited on IMDb.

Booking & Payment – Summer Film Workshop (4–7 August 2025)
To secure a place on the annual film workshop, a £100 deposit is required at the time of booking.
You can choose from the following payment options:

Pay in Full
Pay the full workshop fee of £525 upfront at the time of booking. -
Payment Spreading Option
Split the fee into two equal instalments of £262.50:
– First instalment due by 25th July 2025
– Second instalment due by 30th August 2025 -
Deposit & Balance
Pay the £100 deposit at the time of booking, with the remaining balance of £425 due by 25th July 2025 (10 days before the workshop begins).
Please note: Your place is only confirmed once we have received either the deposit or full payment.

Cancellation refunds:
28+ days: Full refund (–£50 admin fee).
14 days: 50% refund/full credit. -
7 days: No refund (partial credit possible).

How does the IMDb credit process work at Super 8?Once the short film is complete, Super 8 Acting Academy will submit it as an official title on IMDb. This includes uploading all cast and crew names for credit, including actors and those who participated in camera, sound, lighting, or directing roles. You do not need an IMDb account to be credited, but if you already have one, we can link the credit to your existing page. The process can take a few weeks, and we'll notify you when it's live.

What is IMDb and why is it important for young actors?IMDb (Internet Movie Database) is the world’s largest online database for film and television credits. It’s used by agents, casting directors, and industry professionals to verify experience. Having an IMDb credit gives young actors and filmmakers a real industry entry on their resume, showcasing their work to potential employers and collaborators.

What type of film will my child be making at Super 8?We’re keeping the story under wraps to preserve the creative experience, but it’s a dramatic, collaborative project that blends imagination, teamwork, and real storytelling skills. All Super 8 projects follow Film Industry age ratings. This will be PG with moments of mild terror and some frightening or intense scenes. If you feel your child might be uncomfortable with these themes, other upcoming comedy projects might suit better. Please discuss any concerns with Matthew.

Will the film be shared publicly?Yes, the final film will be edited professionally and shared with participants as a private link first. By enrolling in the Super 8 Film in 4 Days project, you agree that photographs and video footage taken during the workshop may be used for promotional purposes, including on our website, social media, and in industry-facing materials (e.g. trailers, stills, IMDb submissions, and behind-the-scenes content). This is a core part of the programme, and participation indicates acceptance of this use.

What if my child can't attend all four days?Because this is a filmed project with a tight schedule, full attendance is essential. If you anticipate any clashes or challenges, please get in touch before booking to discuss options.

My child is new to acting or shy, would this be suitable for them?Absolutely. We welcome all experience levels. This project is designed to support and stretch each participant at their own pace, with a supportive atmosphere and lots of encouragement. There are both on-camera and behind-the-camera roles available.

How does Super 8 accommodate children with additional needs?We aim to be as inclusive as possible and welcome young people from all backgrounds. However, due to the nature of the film shoot — including outdoor locations, technical equipment, and a fast-paced creative environment — it’s essential that all participants are able to focus and follow direction, not just for performance but for safety. This programme is best suited to young people with a strong interest in film or acting, who are able to stay engaged, work as part of a team, and respond appropriately to guidance from the director and crew. If your child has any additional needs — physical, emotional, or behavioural — please contact us before booking. We’re happy to discuss what support we can offer and assess whether this particular project will be a good fit.

How does Super 8 ensure the safety of children on location?Yes. Safety is our top priority. All staff are DBS-checked and experienced in working with young people on location. Risk assessments will be carried out in advance, and we’ll brief all participants on safe, respectful conduct throughout the shoot.
